9. Wrapping up

Goal: the things that make a patch shareable and stage-ready, and where Humus goes next.

You leave with: a tidy patch with a pod in it, a bounce on disk, the patch inside another host, and a look ahead.

Steps

  1. Pods. Select the drum section, right-click, Make Pod. One box with its own inlets and outlets; Open Pod goes inside, Ungroup undoes it.
  2. The Library. Its button on the window rail opens your patches, presets, recordings and samples, dragged in and out like files.
  3. Bounce. File > Bounce renders the song, the loop or the selection: audio, MIDI, and video when you tick it.
  4. Record the set. Control > Record Live Performance writes the master mix to a file while you play.
  5. Moving machines. Open the patch somewhere else and any media it cannot find is listed; Locate brings back the whole folder in one step.
  6. The Humus plugin. Open the patch inside another host. Its transport drives Humus, and the patch saves with the host's project.
  7. Plugins the other way. Settings > Plugins, scan, and your own effects and instruments sit in the organism list.
  8. Decks. Two Deck organisms into a Mixer: BPM detection, sync to a master, keylock. Capture the mix like any performance.
  9. Loopers. Helix records four strands live from the patch; Leafcutter chops a file at its transients and replays it in time.
  10. Updates. Check for Updates, and the release notes on the website.

What comes next

Told in the release notes rather than promised here. The direction is more chips, more ways to play, and a workbench for writing an organism without leaving the app. Writing one with the SDK is lesson 10.
